Introduction

This book is a collection of three-card Lenormand readings focused on relationships between two people – one of the most common topics in consultations.

A brief note for beginners: different readers use different terms for a three-card combination. I prefer the word triad, but you may call it a trio, triplet, or anything else. The name itself is not important.

No two readings are ever truly the same, even when the cards appear identical, because each answer reflects a specific situation and a specific person. For this reason, it is impossible to create a universal dictionary of triads that can be memorized and applied mechanically. Do not try to do this.

If you find triads difficult at the moment, this book will provide you with a clear method of interpretation while deepening your understanding of individual cards. The more you work with these examples, the easier your own readings will become. Think of this book as training: repetition here is intentional and helps fix the meanings firmly in your memory.

This guide includes fifty triads on the theme of love and relationships. Future volumes may explore other areas, so all interpretations in this book are intentionally limited to relationship questions.

All triads presented here were originally laid out as real readings on this topic. Most come from my personal practice, while some are constructed examples that you may encounter in your own work.

Finally, relationship questions do not always produce cards such as the Ring or the Heart. However, in many cases – often in the majority – one of these cards does appear. When it does, it can be seen as a clear sign that the question has been heard and that the answer is directly relevant.

At the same time, it is essential to learn how to interpret spreads that may seem unclear at first glance. This is precisely what this book is designed to help you do.

Three-Card Spread Layout

Depending on your preference, you can choose one of several ways to lay out a three-card spread. The first, and most common, is the classical format, in which the first card represents the past, the middle card reflects the present, and the third predicts the development of the situation in the future. However, this triad can be laid out in two different ways.

The first is shown in Fig. 1. It is called the direct method, as the positional meanings align with the direction of the layout – everything proceeds from left to right, from past to future.

Fig. 1 Direct layout method

The second method is shown in Fig. 2. The essence of the spread remains the same, but the order in which the cards are drawn is different. In this case, the first card drawn from the deck represents the present, and only afterward are the cards of the past and the future drawn.

The logic behind this approach is that, at the moment of the reading, we exist in the present – in the “here and now” – which is the central point of our perception. A person can only perceive reality from this present moment. Therefore, the first card that appears on top of the shuffled deck reflects the most important aspect of the current situation and should be placed in the center of the spread. After that, the cards representing the past and the future are laid out.

Fig. 2 “Here and Now” method

Additionally, you can lay out three cards without assigning any fixed positions at all. You simply ask a question and draw three cards in sequence. This type of spread allows for more flexibility and a wider range of interpretations compared to layouts with predefined positions.

For this approach to work effectively, you must decide before shuffling the deck which method you will use and how you will interpret the spread. This is important.

As you already know from my first book Combinations in Lenormand, a three-card spread can be interpreted in different ways. You can read it strictly by positions, analyzing each card individually without forming pairs. You can interpret it sequentially from left to right, keeping in mind that the rightmost card represents the outcome. Or you can take the central card as the foundation and form pair combinations with the neighboring cards. In that book, I described all these methods in detail, so we will not repeat them here.

I mention these approaches only because all the examples in this book are interpreted in the way that seemed the simplest and the most clear to me. Sometimes the cards fall in such a way that their message is immediately obvious, and there is no need to “reinvent the wheel” by forcing pair combinations or extracting additional layers of meaning. Do not forget that your main task is to receive and understand the core message of the cards.

I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that this spread is universal in terms of time frames – unless you are using the positional method with past, present, and future. In other words, the spread can describe both the present and the future, depending on the question asked. You may define a time frame before the reading if needed, or leave it open if the primary goal is simply to understand the outcome.

How to Ask the Right Question

Examples of questions that can be answered with a triad:

– “What is the current state of the relationship between these two people?” – “What awaits this relationship in the future?”

– “Does this relationship have potential?”

– “What will the relationship between spouses be like in 5 years?”

– “Why has this relationship been given to me?”

– “What will this relationship with this partner bring me?”

– “What will happen if I end my current relationship?”

– “Will a new acquaintance lead to marriage?”

– “Will I find a new partner?”

– “What are my prospects for finding a long-term partner?”

I prefer to use the simplest algorithm for interpreting triads. First, recall the meaning of each card within the context of the question. Then try to connect these meanings into a single conclusion that answers the question. Always keep your focus on the context and avoid using card meanings that are not relevant to the topic of the spread.

However, as the saying goes, it is better to see something once than to hear about it a hundred times. Or rather, it is better to work through fifty spreads and their interpretations than to listen to theoretical explanations.

So – let’s begin.

Examples of Triad Interpretations

No. 1 – Tree + Ring + Heart

Fig. 3 Tree + Ring + Heart

The Tree card symbolizes growth, health, and longevity. In the context of relationships, it points to a stable connection with a solid foundation – shared values, common interests, and mutual support. On an emotional level, it reflects a healthy emotional environment and the potential for growth and development together. Overall, the Tree often indicates long-term relationships, both in terms of the past and the future.

The Ring card is associated with commitments, agreements, and, traditionally, with marriage or partnership. It confirms the seriousness of the union, highlighting mutual understanding between the partners and their willingness to honor established commitments.

The Heart card represents love, passion, and emotional connection. It indicates that the foundation of the relationship is built on sincere and deep feelings. Love plays a central role, bringing warmth, vitality, and emotional engagement into the partnership.

Together, these three cards form the image of a stable, mature, and emotionally rich relationship in which the partners have taken on clear commitments. This is a positive sign, pointing to longevity, reliability, and mutual understanding.

The triad also carries favorable prospects for the future development of the relationship. The Tree suggests continued growth and a deepening of the bond on multiple levels. The relationship may become increasingly mature and contribute to the personal development of both partners.

The Ring, in turn, indicates that the existing agreements will remain relevant and continue to shape the couple’s future. It may also suggest the need to periodically renew or adapt these agreements in response to changing life circumstances.

Finally, the Heart shows that the feelings between the partners will remain strong, warm, and meaningful, with love continuing to serve as the foundation of the relationship.

Overall, this combination speaks of harmony and stability, supported by genuine feelings and a shared recognition of the seriousness of the relationship. The partnership develops on a foundation of trust, mutual understanding, and emotional closeness.

This triad reflects a strong and healthy connection with promising prospects. It describes a relationship in which love, reliability, and mutual commitment are present. In most cases, it is a positive sign for those seeking confirmation of the depth and longevity of their emotional bond.

No. 2 – Ring + Garden + Birds

Fig. 4 Ring + Garden + Birds

According to this triad, the current relationship is in a phase of active communication and social interaction. This is a period in which external connections, discussions, and the surrounding environment play an important role.

The Ring card symbolizes unity, wholeness, and cycles. It points to the stability and continuity of the relationship, as well as the presence of certain commitments or agreements between the partners. Depending on the context, these commitments may be experienced as supportive or, on the contrary, as restrictive.

The Garden card, positioned at the center of the triad, reinforces the theme of the social environment. It speaks of connections with others, participation in public or social life, and a wide circle of communication. In the context of relationships, this suggests that the partnership develops not in isolation, but within a broader social framework – through friends, acquaintances, or shared activities.

The Birds card, following the Garden, indicates conversations, discussions, the exchange of information, and the emotional tension that often accompanies them. In relationships, this may point to a period of active dialogue, during which important topics are discussed between the partners. It can also indicate outside influence – information coming from others or discussions about the relationship within the social circle.

You may be discussing future plans, making joint decisions, or participating in social events together.

It is worth noting that the combination Ring + Garden can sometimes indicate a wedding as an event. Symbolically, this can be expressed as a “basic social unit”: Ring (union) + Garden (society) = marriage.

However, the Birds card significantly modifies this interpretation, as it is more closely associated with communication. Therefore, the triad more often points to discussions about marriage – “talks about a wedding.” At the same time, since the Birds also symbolize a pair, in certain contexts this combination may still indicate marriage, especially if such an outcome is expected or logically consistent with the situation.

If the topic of marriage is not relevant, the Birds will manifest through meanings such as conversations, nervousness, and emotional tension.

Overall, this combination shows that communication will play a key role in the development of the relationship. Participation in social events and interaction with others may act as a test of the stability and reliability of the partnership.

There may be moments of tension, anxiety, or even disagreements, but these are likely aimed at resolving misunderstandings and improving mutual understanding between the partners.

The cards may also indicate an expansion of the social circle or the development of the relationship in a more open, socially engaged context.

The triad indicates the need for open and ongoing communication. In the near future, the development of the relationship will occur primarily through dialogue. It is important not to avoid discussions or leave issues unspoken – on the contrary, honest conversations will help reduce tension and strengthen the bond. If both partners are willing to listen to each other and express their thoughts and feelings openly, the relationship will have the potential to develop in a more stable and harmonious way.

No. 3 – Stars + Sun + Cross

Fig. 5 Stars + Sun + Cross

We will examine this example in two ways. The first is based on a real-life case from my practice, while the second presents a possible interpretation without relying on specific circumstances.

Option No. 1

This is a real spread, and I have known this couple for several years. The peculiarity of their marriage lies in the fact that, despite the outward brilliance of their relationship, the woman perceives her husband primarily as a provider, the father of their children, and a person responsible for fulfilling his duties.

To his credit, he genuinely makes an effort: he takes care of the children, provides for the family at a solid level, and carries significant responsibility.

However, for his wife, this is not enough. The situation resembles the well-known tale of The Golden Fish: no matter how much she receives, it never seems sufficient. They have property, an expensive car, trips abroad, and she does not need to work – yet the husband is still “not good enough.” According to her, he does not give her enough attention, spends time on his own interests, meets with friends, and may even be unfaithful.

A relative of the husband asked me to look into the situation and see where the relationship was heading.

The Stars card shows that, on the surface, everything appears almost ideal. The relationship looks harmonious, although this card can also indicate inflated expectations. If not for the Cross in the final position, one might interpret this as an ideal union.

However, the Cross changes the entire picture. It reveals that beneath the outward harmony lies tension and inner difficulty. The Sun amplifies the Stars, adding brightness, visibility, and an outward focus. Everything appears radiant and attractive, drawing attention from others.

This suggests that the “ideal” nature of the relationship is largely external. The partners may maintain a façade of harmony while avoiding discussions of issues that cause internal discomfort.

The Cross in the final position is a challenging sign. It often indicates a burden that one of the partners is forced to carry. In this case, it suggests that the man may eventually grow tired of constantly giving without receiving in return. This creates a heavy emotional and psychological strain.

Moreover, as I noted in my previous work, the Cross in the rightmost position often indicates that the significance of the preceding cards gradually diminishes. In other words, the outward “perfection” of the relationship may fade over time.

Thus, despite its brightness and attractiveness, the internal foundation of this relationship may prove to be unstable.

Option No. 2

The Stars card symbolizes hope, inspiration, and positive prospects. In the context of marriage, it may indicate shared dreams and aspirations that unite the partners. The relationship may be built on aligned expectations and ideals.

The Sun brings the energy of success, joy, and clarity. In a marriage, it can represent warmth, openness, and mutual understanding, suggesting a harmonious and fulfilling connection.

The Cross, on the other hand, is associated with trials, difficulties, and significant life challenges. In relationships, it points to tests that the partners must go through together. These challenges may either strain the relationship or strengthen it, depending on how they are handled.

The outlook for such a relationship is dual in nature. On the one hand, the Stars and the Sun indicate happiness, harmony, and strong potential. On the other hand, the Cross warns of inevitable difficulties.

This suggests that maintaining and developing the relationship will require patience, maturity, and a willingness to work through challenges. Only by facing these trials together and supporting one another can the relationship become truly strong and meaningful.

No. 4 – Ring + Bouquet + Tree

Fig. 6 Ring + Bouquet + Tree

The Ring card in this triad symbolizes strong commitments and suggests that the relationship is based on mutual attachment and the desire to be together. It may also indicate a long-lasting and potentially official union.

The Bouquet card brings positive energy and symbolizes joy, harmony, and gestures of appreciation. In the context of marriage, it points to a happy atmosphere filled with gratitude, care, and enjoyment of life together. It may also indicate romantic gestures, mutual respect, and a warm, affectionate connection between the partners.

The Tree card represents growth, health, and longevity. In the context of family life, it suggests the steady development of the relationship, a deep emotional and spiritual bond, as well as stability and long-term potential. It also reflects the partners’ willingness to support one another and to actively nurture and strengthen the relationship.

Taken together, these cards form the image of a stable, harmonious, and fulfilling partnership with strong prospects for the future. Due to emotional balance, closeness, and a shared desire for growth, this union has every chance of being solid and long-lasting. Mutual respect and sincere feelings create a strong foundation for many happy years together.

Key pair combinations to remember:

– Ring + Bouquet – often indicates a marriage proposal or engagement. If the Garden card is also present and the context supports it, this may point to a wedding as an event.

– Bouquet + Tree – joyful and harmonious relationships with long-term potential, possibly lasting a lifetime.
