What makes it so compelling is how it balances chaos and clarity. The setting is brutal: civil war, disappearances, bombings. Yet somehow, there’s this dark humor running through it, and Maali himself is sarcastic, sharp, and painfully human even in ghost form. The writing can be dizzying at times — fast-paced, fragmented, loaded with names and references — but I didn’t mind. It felt like being thrown into the deep end and learning to swim with history swirling around you.
It's not just a mystery or a ghost story. It’s a meditation on memory, justice, and the legacy of violence. And despite all the heaviness, it leaves space for love — messy, imperfect love — and a tiny bit of hope.
