Phil Purcel, The Pig-Driver; The Geography Of An Irish Oath; The Lianhan Shee

The following book is a collection of ethnic sketches of the stereotypical Irishman, and the work that the author, William Carleton, is best-known for. In it he stereotyped the Irish «Paddy» in sketches such as «Phil Purcel The Pig Driver». He also included a picture of Irish hedge schools in the sketch called «The Hedge School», which he also attended when he was young.
