On the Trail of Deserters; A Phenomenal Capture

Ranald MacKenzie was a career United States Army officer and general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. When he discovered that ten men had deserted the army, he ordered the author of this work to take a division to pursue the deserters anywhere in the country. This work describes the author's successful pursuit despite terrible weather and hostile civilians.
