The Brown Mouse

"The Brown Mouse" by Herbert Quickis is the story of our young hero's pursuit of a good education for the young people of his Iowa town. Teaching rural children and city children could, at the time of writing, mean employing very different methods of teaching that anyone who has ever studied independently will recognize. Despite the fictitious nature of the story, this book has some very good ideas on education even today.
