"Joyce" by Mrs. Oliphant (the pen name of Scottish author Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant is often less talked about compared to the author's other works, however, it is still widely considered an important piece of Victorian-era literature. Mrs. Oliphant was renown for novels that captured the subtle excitement of domestic life while still managing to incorporate history and even elements of supernatural themes. «Joyce» can be considered a sort of coming-of-age novel that follows the journey of the titular character as she discovers herself.
