Jane Oglander

Jane Oglander is a romance novel by Marie Belloc Lowndes. Jane's brother Jack is caught up in a murderous crime but dies shortly after he is sentenced to prison. Jane's friends Richard and Athena Maule invite her to live with them at their Victorian mansion. Everybody expects Richard's cousin Dick Wantele, who has become quite close to Jane, to marry her. But they are all surprised when a letter comes that Jane is to be married to the war hero General Lingard.
