About the book
This is a comedy in 5 Acts, first performed at The Theatre Royal, Covent Garden in the late eighteenth century. It was well-received by the audience at its first performance, drawing many laughs. Act One opens in a part of Hampshire in a noblewoman's house where a conversation ensues between Sir George, a naval captain and John, his once Boatswain. John knows far too much about his ex-master's exploits and Sir George is anxious to keep them quiet.
