The Price of Silence

This is a crime mystery novel that revolves around Sir Wilton Oakes of Priors Gate. Oakes came into his position as a Baronet after the death of his father. No one in London knows that Oakes served some terms in the penitentiary because he was involved in dubious schemes in the United States. He also duped his father, the late Baronet of his money. Now, so far as he could see, the estate willed to him was mortgaged to the hilt. Knowing he's responsible for the estate's predicament, he decides to turn a new leaf. But, Primery, an old associate he knew from the States arrives in London with the intent of blackmailing him back into a life of crime.
