Levi’s grandmother lived in the village of Dubki. There was a lot of greenery, fresh
air and peaceful harmony of nature. Levi liked to stay with his grandmother. He liked to wake up to the fanfare of a crowing rooster, to run across the grass covered with dew. Levi loved his calm and loving grandmother with her warm, rough hands.
Today Levi and Watchdog woke up in a cheerful mood, with a tireless thirst for adventure. Beyond the village, on the path to the left, there was a very mysterious structure that Levi always wanted to explore.
People called it «undead». No one ever went there. It was rumored to be a gateway to a strange and unseen world. Residents of Dubki avoided this place and even more so did not let children go there.
Watchdog knew about Levi’s thoughts and his dream to set foot on the mysterious
land. These fantasies frightened the dog very much. Every time they went to
visit their grandmother, Watchdog hoped Levi would have some common sense. It’s always been that way, but not this time.
After a hearty breakfast, Levi and Barbosa went for a walk around the village.
My grandmother took them for a walk with a calm heart, because she was
sure that they would catch butterflies in the neighboring meadow. But Watchdog knew that this morning would be mysterious. When they reached the outskirts of the Oaks, they walked confidently towards the adventure. As he turned to the left, the Watchdog felt a strange, unfamiliar smell in the air, and a strange prickly sensation appeared on the pads of his paws, as if they were pricked with needles or as if he was walking along a path paved with nettles. He looked at Levi in disbelief – the boy had a calm, confident face. «Fear must be playing tricks,» thought Watchdog.
