About the book

The following is an essay that discusses in great depth, the author's perspective on the sexual relations and inclinations of women and men. It was written by Edward Carpenter, an English utopian socialist, poet, philosopher, anthologist, and early activist for gay rights and prison reform whilst advocating vegetarianism and taking a stance against vivisection. He was an early advocate of sexual liberation and his life inspired E. M. Forster's novel, Maurice.
