The Harlequinade: An Excursion

This book revolves around a range of odd characters and unusual conversations, like what you might experience on a day trip. In this book, the authors aim to offer a view of the world as seen through the lens of Harlequin's clothes, with sentiments beloved by Columbine, and funny moments with wisdom and chuckles from Pantaloon. The excursion is not intended to be taken seriously but rather in the spirit of a butterfly's kiss or holding a shell to your ear to hear the sound of the sea. The story is told from the perspective of Alice Whistler, a fifteen-year-old girl who is dressed in a silver grey frock and who sits with her basket of knitting beside her on one side of a painted grey and black proscenium. Her uncle, Edward, sits on the other side in a porter's chair. While not a part of the story, the authors also discuss the history of the Harlequinade, which has been performed for thousands of years under various conditions and in different countries.
