This is a light-hearted novel full of interesting characters and situations and very focused on love and romance. At the beginning of the story, we are introduced to Judge Calvin Trent, his housemaid Hannah, Martha Lacey – a woman to whom he had proposed 25 years ago – and John Dunham a Harvard graduate. Many of the author's novels have a strong Christian Science message, and this is an example.
