"Under the Hill" is a romance novel by Aubrey Beardsley, based on the legend of Tannhäuser. Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (1872 – 1898) was an English illustrator and author. He was a leading figure in the Aesthetic movement which also included Oscar Wilde and James McNeill Whistler. He is one of the important Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style) figures.
