Volume 60 pages
In Honoré de Balzac's short story, 'Farewell,' readers are taken on a journey through a hot September day. Two sportsmen are making their way through the Foret de l'Isle-Adam, a forest that has been shut off from any breeze, and are getting ready to take a break from their travels. The weather is oppressive, and even the birds and insects are quiet in the heat. Despite the heat and humidity, the men continue their journey, but soon the heat and frustration lead to an argument between them.
