The book tells the story of her grandparents from the beginning of the century, the thirties and forties of her mother's family, the stories of her entry into life as well as her childhood, youth, growing up and being an adult with struggles and perseverance. She met her biological father very late in life and had him write down his story in considerable detail, the life of an adolescent in Saxony before, during and after the Second World War.
